The objective of the Learn to Swim Program is to teach children a wide range of skills resulting in competent, confident and safer swimmers who have a love of swimming and a skill base to develop further abilities in a wide range of water-based activities.
Just as all children do not learn to walk, talk or read at the same pace, nor do they learn to swim at the same rate. At DSA, we do not place any accelerated expectations ahead of the student’s actual readiness to learn. All students learn to kick when they swim – but some do it on the first day, while others do it only after a great deal of time, guided teaching and practice.
Being able to swim on the first day does not make one student better, smarter or stronger than another student who learns at a later stage. Students are not pressured or pushed to perform but guided to develop their skills at a rate they are comfortable with.

AUSTSWIM Recognised Swim Centre
Swim Teachers in DSA are accredited with AUSTSWIM, Australia’s national organisation for the Teaching of Swimming and Water SafetyTM. The AUSTSWIM Teacher Licence is recognised as the industry standard for Swimming and Water Safety courses and is delivered and recognised in each state and territory of Australia and many countries overseas. The AUSTSWIM Teacher Licence is recognised by the industry as the minimum requirement to be a Swimming and Water Safety teacher.
An AUSTSWIM Recognised Swim Centre ensures that swimming and water safety lessons include water familiarisation activities, water safety education, skill acquisition and parent involvement/education. Additionally, each activity is appropriate for a child’s age, development, and ability. Participation in aquatic activities is a pleasant educational experience where children are encouraged to learn at their own pace and never pushed into water activities before they’re ready.
