path Marellyn had taken to reach the
National level, training for the 2008
Beijing Olympics, and the reasons which
caused her to miss out on qualifying for
the Olympics. The team building projects
conducted later involved the development
of the DSA Swim Team T-shirt Design
and creation of a Team Cheer. Selection
of winners for both the projects concluded
the activities for the second day.
The final day had a Water Polo match
awaiting, and the hectic event saw the
teams fight it out, but it was not enough
to quench the energy of the young
swimmers who then had a couple of
more hours of fun at the water park
before it was time to call it a day. The
final breakfast session was followed by a
prize distribution ceremony and sharing
sessions by the coaches and team
leaders about the Swim Camp.
The kids were very thrilled with the
experience and many did not want to
go back home. They were eagerly
looking forward to the next Swim Camp.
The overwhelming response was that
many of the kids had got to know each
other, especially from the other training
venues; and the words rang out “We are
DSA! not KP or Shah Alam!” This was
the main purpose of the Swim Camp,
and it was safe to say that the objective
was achieved. Big thanks to all the
organisers, the program co-ordinators,
coaches, parents and most of all the
young participants who gave it their
all with their exuberant enthusiasm
and team spirit. The next Swim Meet
will surely see a lot more fervour and
cheering from the galleries. Onward
Team DSA!
