The International Swim Schools Association (ISSA) is the global voice of the swim school industry and it was formed in 2017, by a group of swim school owners on a mission to help support the Swim School Industry globally. ISSA has gradually developed into a support system for businesses in every corner of the world. To empower and educate them in the areas of business acumen, professional development, establishing local swim associations, networking opportunities and much more!
Since its inception, ISSA has conducted several international events including two International Conferences (International Swim Schools Spectacular – Gold Coast and Singapore), many virtual seminars and several position papers on topics relevant to, and influential within, the swim school industry.
D Swim Academy, represented by Cyrena Yong, Founder, and Kay Ooi, General Manager, was invited to be a speaker at the ISSA 3rd International Swim School Spectacular Conference held in Dubai during the third week of January 2024. Cyrena is also the Ambassador of ISSA for the Asia region.
The conference had a participation of 150 experts from over 26 countries. The captivating speakers from multiple nations delved into the realms of conscious capitalism, managing change in the ever-evolving landscape of swim education, and the importance of activating and engaging communities. These thought-provoking discussions were inspirational and provided fresh perspectives to shape the future of swim education. Besides the intense discussions, the conference also had a lot of cultural and leisure activities.
As one of the tools to help prepare and develop swim schools, it has launched its accreditation program offered to associates. The aim is to direct swim schools towards global best practices, the accreditation program will help to reduce costs, improve performance and promote positive choices for the community.
DSA is honoured to be have been part of a great team of speakers, sharing their experiences, management and changes at DSA and the Malaysian swim education. More importantly, DSA gained valuable insights as swim educators from all over the world unconditionally shared their knowledge and experiences with one another, contributing to excellence in swim education.
